Congratulations to Lineman Terry Minic and Network Technician Jason Geyer, who were voted by Paulding Putnam employees as Rockstar Employees! This internal recognition allows employees to nominate and vote on deserving coworkers whom they feel have gone above and beyond or deserve recognition.
Q&A With Terry
Terry joined the team in January of 2006 as part of the tree-trimming crew. Over his time here, he worked as an apprentice lineman and graduated to a journeyman lineman in 2022. He was recently promoted to crew leader, a position in which he plans jobs and leads a team of linemen as they complete their daily jobs.
What does the Rockstar Award mean to you?
“It means I’m doing my job right and taking pride in my work and taking that extra step to show that I care. I’m not just here to collect a paycheck.”
What projects or tasks have you been working on? Do you have a favorite job/task/park of your work?
“I’m working on being a crew leader and learning new ways to do things just about every day. I also do the Hot Line Safety Demonstrations whenever local fire departments, schools, or others request one. These safety demonstrations are by far the most enjoyable thing that I get to do. I absolutely love teaching the public the do’s and don’ts of electricity.”
Why do you enjoy working at Paulding Putnam?
“I love working with the guys at Paulding Putnam because you never know what today will bring. We can all be friends both at work and outside of work. If anyone’s having a bad day, there’s always someone to give you that extra pick-me-up that makes your day just a little bit better, and you just don’t find that at a lot of places anymore.”
Q&A With Jason
Jason started at Paulding Putnam as an intern in March of 2021 while in high school at Vantage Career Center. He continued as an intern throughout his college career and started full-time at Paulding Putnam in 2023. He manages and supports corporate laptops, desktops, mobile phones, and iPads; monitors and responds to vulnerabilities within our network; and investigates network outages, service interruptions, and connectivity issues.
What does the Rockstar Award mean to you?
“The Rockstar Award means making a positive impact on employees and members. It means being someone people can count on for answers, troubleshooting, or jumping in whenever needed. Being recognized for that means a lot because it reflects the teamwork that keeps our organization strong and dependable.”
What projects or tasks have you been working on? Do you have a favorite job/task/park of your work?
“Recently, I’ve been helping more on the broadband side with scheduling, site turn-ups, and on-call responsibilities. A lot of it is still new to me, but it has been rewarding to see how that work connects back to the electric side, especially with getting our first substation connected and communicating over fiber services. In the office, I’ve been working on security-related work, new hire setups, and day-to-day support. Security has been a major focus this year, from urgent vulnerabilities to user permissions and passwords. A lot of that work happens behind the scenes, but it plays an important role in protecting the co-op.”
Why do you enjoy working at Paulding Putnam?
“The people at Paulding Putnam are what make it a great place to work. Everyone wears multiple hats, helps where needed, and brings different strengths to the table. Growing our Network/ IT department has also brought different perspectives and more people to bounce things off of when working through challenges. That teamwork makes busy days easier and makes it rewarding to be part of the organization.”
