We are excited to welcome Matt Jay to the Paulding Putnam team! He joins us as a Broadband Technician, helping with installations and troubleshooting as the co-op expands its fiber services.
Here's a fun Q&A with Matt to help members get to know the newest Paulding Putnam family member!
Tell us a bit about your family and where you're from.
"I come from a close-knit family that thrives on humor. There is never a dull moment when we all get together. My girlfriend and I have two sons who are spitting images of us and always keep us on our toes. We live in Van Wert with our dog, Barrett, who drives us crazy, but we wouldn't have him any other way. We also have a three-legged cat, Rue, and no, it wasn't the dog's fault."
Why did you want to work at Paulding Putnam?
"I like the fact that Paulding Putnam has a small-town feel, and it's exciting to be a part of the fiber expansion."
Tell us about your work history.
"I worked in the manufacturing industry for close to 20 years as an electrical technician and team leader."
What will you be doing here at Paulding Putnam?
"I will be working as a Broadband Technician, doing installs and troubleshooting."
What are you looking forward to?
"I'm looking forward to getting out there and meeting the members, and possibly moving around in the fiber side of the co-op."
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
"I love spending time with my family, hunting, fishing, riding ATVs, pretty much anything outdoors, and watching sports. Go Bucks! The Reds....not so much."
A fun fact about you?
"About 13 years ago, I accidentally sank a friend's boat in the Paulding Reservoir. I was told it had a 'little leak.' I was...misguided."
A favorite quote or motto that inspires you?
"'Don't take any wooden nickels.' My grandpa always used to tell me this when I was little. I thought there actually were wooden nickels floating around, but as I got older, I understood he just didn't want me to do anything unwise."
